Active Duty Fitness (Women’s Boot Camp)- .  A program for women only that incorporates functional strength training exercise two mornings per week and cardiovascular exercise two mornings.  The members meet in a grassy area behind the mall for strength training and then walk or run in the Quail Ridge addition on cardio days.  However, in inclement weather the group meets inside, which allows this program to continue throughout the entire year. There are three groups for various fitness levels, so whether the member is a beginner, intermediate, or advanced exerciser, they will be with a group of women just like themselves. This class has monthly enrollments, with the ability for members to start on any Monday of the month. Visit www.activedutyfitness.com to sign up for a $49 trial week, get other rates and to take a virtual class.

Boflex– C3 (cross conditioning classes) are a true innovation in facilitated group exercise utilizing BOWFLEX  Strength Systems.  C3 promotes safe, long-term results through a scientifically proven protocol that integrates a balance of the five primary elements of fitness (strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and body composition) with the dynamics of a 50 minute exercise experience.  We offer beginner, intermediate, advanced and senior levels  (see other class titles on opposite side), facilitated by certified instructors. $8/per class per person; seniors $6 per class per person.

Yoga- Conditioning Practice:Variations of common poses to ensure challenging  and safe execution.  Each student receives individual modifications to reflect personal preference, ability and fitness level.  Experience private instruction in a group setting. This class encourages proper alignment and breathing for a superior physical and mental experience.  Conditioning occurs from awareness of the rhythm of mind/body, strength/effort, flexibility/stability, dynamic tension/deep relaxation.  Healing  Movement:  A blended   90-minute class to address strength, stamina and flexibility.  Every practice includes a restorative sequence to relieve stress and experience mindful, relaxation.  Greater body awareness will result from this healing and creative practice. Through asana, experience… effort, surrender, courage, contentment, stillness and playfulness.  $15/per class, per person.

Qigong-   Qigong is the father of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is over 5000 years old. Most notably Qigong is used to for improving digestion, enhancing detoxification, strengthening blood circulation, and keeping a strong immune system. Qigong accomplishes this by focusing on breath and gentle, yet precise movement which increases Qi (this is what moves the blood).  It improves microcirculation to the brain, vital organs, intestines, and endocrine glands thereby improving overall health.  This class is suitable for every level. Classes $10/per class/per person

Physically Disabled and Amputee Support Meeting- This is a free support group, open to anyone who wants to visit.  Each group the facilitator will provide a topic and occasionally have handouts or guest speakers that address a wide range of topics including: self growth, the power of thoughts, the importance of movement, healthy diet planning, stress    reduction, post traumatic stress and much more. Then, the facilitator will turn the discussion over to the members and each person that wants to share their experiences about that day’s topic or something else going on in their life is free to do so. Free to everyone.

Launch of Active Duty Fitness

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Today marks the first day of the second week of the grand opening of Active Duty Fitness For Women in the Oklahoma City area.  We had a great first week and I am looking forward to watching this site grow and add new members weekly.  This is a boot camp like no other out there.  The combination of well designed functional strength training exercises with a varied cardio routine truly makes this a program like no other! I challenge any lady who has been putting her own exercise needs on the back burner to step up and sign up for a trial week.  You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Visiting Reston, VA and Active Duty Fitness

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I am excited to say that I will be making my first trip back to the Washington DC area next week since I moved from there in 2003.  I have teamed up with some wonderful individuals here in Oklahoma City who are helping to bring the Active Duty Fitness For Women Boot Camp (ADF) that I coached in VA here to OKC.  I will be staying with my long time friend Dee next week when I am there and we will be getting up early each morning to attend the Reston, VA ADF boot camp which is held in a local park on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri. mornings.

Doug who is the owner of the business, who I worked with primarily when I lived there years ago, tells me that some of the same women who I coached at that site are still attending.  I’m so excited to go back and visit people that made such a positive impact on my life and to see how ADF has changed, grown and advanced.

I will be returning at the end of next week with a fire and knowledge base to get the OKC location up an running!  Watch out ladies of OKC you in for a surprise.  I guarantee you have never been part of such a motivating, well designed group exercise experience!  I will soon have a link on my website with the OKC info posted, but for now visit www.activedutyfitness.com to find out more about this amazing program.

Business is Expanding

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Well I am excited to say that I have been seeing clients on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s out of Spirit House Yoga at 5107 N Shartel since the beginning of June.  Their website is www.spirithouseyoga.com.  They have a room that I have been renting to work on massage clients.    Now, I will also have an excellent location for exercise therapy working out of a personal training studio called The Obvious Group located within Northpark Mall starting the first week of August.  Their website is www.obviousgroup.org

Onther exciting venture I’ve been exploring is reconnecting with a business associate from the DC area where I used to live.  The plan is to start up an Active Duty Fitness For Women Site here in Oklahoma City sometime in the fall.  We are working out all the details now.  If you want more information on the women’s boot camp go to www.activedutyfitness.com and you will get an idea of how the program will be implemented here in the city.

Stay well and keep in touch with questions and updates!

Jennifer and Family Back to Cali

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Back to California next week! I?m excited to be making the journey. We got to see snow and a tornado while back in our home state of Oklahoma (thunder/electricity storms are Kinny?s and my favorite weather). It was a little crazy on the 10th when the tornado blew through the Chucky Cheese where my cousin?s 4-year-old son had a party just the weekend before, on the 7th. Fortunately, where we have been staying just got rain and
wind.

I just wanted to let you know that I will be back in Oceanside next week and I will be taking appointments at The Wellness Center in the AM Thurs the 26th and on Sat. the 28th. Then for 3 to 4 weeks of March I will take appointments on Monday afternoon/evenings and Thursday mornings. If you are interested in making an appointment you can call them directly at 760-726-9660, they will be keeping my schedule for me. Otherwise if you want
to talk to me, of course my cell and email will still be working. I will be out of
commission on the computer for most of next week though, so my cell phone will be the best way to get in touch with me Feb 16th to 22nd. After that I should be settled and have more time to check email.

We plan to be in Oceanside through most of March, then start our tour of the U.S. after that. Our travel trailer is waiting for us in Oceanside and we are looking forward to checking it out and starting our camping tour. I do have updated pictures on my blog from the last few weeks. Please visit www.mindandbodyfitness.net/blog to check them out. Be Well!

Greetings from Oklahoma!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

It?s amazing how plans can change when you have faith, follow your intuition and leave things up to God. When we left California we had no definite plans other than to spend the holidays with family, obtain an RV, then travel and visit friends around the country that we knew. The original plan was loosely set to leave OKC sometime in Jan with an RV my sister and her husband were going to loan us; then we intended to go to Austin, Southern AZ and back up to Oceanside before starting our Northern trip to see the northwest part of the country that neither my husband nor I have seen.

As it turns out, after carefully checking out the pop up trailer that my sister and her husband have, none of us are confident that it could make the cross country trips we are planning, due to age and wear. Well, it just so happens that we have a friend selling his newer model pop up trailer at a steal of a price back in Southern California. So, as of now it appears that we will be leaving for Oceanside sometime the 2nd or 3rd week of February and staying about a month with friends out there as well as purchasing our new pop-up tent.

During my stay in Oceanside I plan to workout a schedule at The Wellness Center a couple days a week to do some work for any clients that are interested in scheduling with me. I have already gotten approval from the clinic director to work out of the facility and we will just have to coordinate days and times I will have access to the rooms. I will relay the details, as I know more.

As for our next journey, when leaving Oceanside, we plan to hit Southern AZ, Austin and then back to OKC for a time before heading up North during the warmer months. We have friends in Colorado, family and friends in Northern California, and my husband has Marine Corp buddies in Oregon, and Washington. We want to see Wyoming, Montana and many of the
beautiful northern states. Also I have friends in Wisconsin and Virginia, so there is no telling where this trip is going to lead us, but I have faith that we will be in the right places at the right times, being blessed to have an adventure that not many people get the chance to have.

I?m already educating myself on home schooling for preschoolers and I think we are going to have a blast with our son letting him experience life in the outdoors (hopefully it will tame some of his energy; I would love to harness and sell it!) Also we have musical instruments and art supplies we got at Christmas and plan to use as a family, which I think will be a unique opportunity to bring us all closer.

Please take time to check out my website, I have updated it since I moved and have posted holiday pictures at www.mindandbodyfitness.net/blog
Also, I have added some new links on the client education page for you to review (the ones listed under ?Article on Various Health Topics? have numerous resources for you to look through). I will email you a short note again when I know the exact dates we will be in Oceanside.

With much love and gratitude,

Jennifer Tolbert
